Peter Mancina

Dr. Peter Mancina is Research Associate in the Centre for Criminology at the University of Oxford and an Adjunct Professor of Law, Rutgers Law School, New Jersey. Mancina holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from Vanderbilt University.

His work examines the manner in which “sanctuary city” and “sanctuary state” policies in the United States make possible local law enforcement assistance to federal immigration enforcement authorities. In this line of research, he conducts comprehensive reviews of local government immigrant-related policies and programs. Secondly, he uses public records disclosure laws to conduct statewide studies of law enforcement agencies as they implement policies to limit their assistance to federal immigration authorities. In addition to his work on sanctuary city and sanctuary state policies, Mancina conducts research on the manner in which immigration enforcement agencies and immigration policy think tanks in Europe conceptualize the future of immigration and the future of immigration control.
